Strongheart Sheffield rock fans may have heard of the American hard rock band Strongheart. For those who don't know, they are a guitar/bass/drums 3-piece from LA, who moved to Sheffield in the late 80s and have made two CDs 'Hard Wired', and 'Ritual'. Disaster struck last year when bass player Billy's visa ran out & he had to return to the USA. Drummer Bobby & guitarist/vocalist Wilbur continued as Jimi Zeppelin, playing, you guessed it, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin covers, with a variety of bass players. Then, one Friday evening in May, I got a phone call from our ex-bass player, Alen Shaw (now with Chicken Ass Blues Band), saying could I do a gig the next night, as he had been asked to play, but couldn't do it. I picked up a tape from him & the next evening found myself on stage with Jimi Zeppelin in Matlock! I've now done a half dozen gigs with them and have started learning their original material, as we are now going out as Strongheart again, and they are talking about starting work on a third album.

Satsuma! I've been rehearsing most of this year (in between World Turtle, Haze & Strongheart gigs) with Satsuma! a new band comprising Nick 'Winston N'Gobola' Robinson, Martin 'Freddie Satsuma' Sommers and me! The idea is to play fairly classy rock & pop from the 60s, 70s, 80s & 90s, initially on the pub circuit, but heading for clubland by Christmas. We've already done two shows, at The Other Side and at the Pen Nook & it's been going pretty well so far. Look out for more dates soon. World Turtle Will be resurfacing for a couple of shows soon. We're opening at a Greenpeace benefit at Tin Pan Alley, and will be headlining a Classic Rock Society gig at the Tut & Shive in Rotherham. Paul Chisnell will be joining us at both shows to play a short acoustic set.
